Honor Societies and Scholarships
Get Involved!

Collin College honors students have many opportunities to get involved with clubs and honor societies on campus. Please make an OrgSync account at and then you will be able to see all of the clubs on campus. Transferring to a four-year college or university can be a competition, and more so for honors students. Joining and participating in clubs and honor societies can go a long way toward making your applications stand out. Most importantly, you have a chance to give back to our campus and our community.

The honor societies listed below are open to students by invitation only (based on GPA). However, there are several other honors societies on campus.

The National Society of Collegiate Scholars  is an Honor Society which offers qualified students opportunities for internships, networking, and scholarships. Membership is by invitation and students must have a 3.4 GPA or higher to be invited. The NSCS conducts an induction ceremony once a year. To find out more, go to the national web site:

Phi Theta Kappa is the largest and most prestigious honor society among two-year colleges. Collin College has a long and esteemed relationship with this organization which promotes academic achievement and offers qualified students networking and scholarship opportunities. Membership is by invitation and students must have a 3.5 GPA or higher to be invited. PTK conducts an induction ceremony once a semester. To find out more, go to the national web site:

In addition to the many scholarship opportunities available through our honor societies, there are a couple of scholarships offered exclusively to our Honors students. You must go to the Collin College Foundation web page to fill out an application after February 1st each year. Honors specific scholarships are only awarded in the fall (and may only be applied for in the spring). Honors scholarships include:

Honors Course Scholarship: worth $250.00 each

- 10 awarded each fall semester to honors students who have enrolled in and passed (with a B or better) an honors course.

- The award is meant to cover registration for your next honors course.

Lebrecht-Hites Family Transfer Scholarship

- Be sure to check the Foundation website for specific information about this scholarship, including the application window.

- Exclusive to honors students who have taken honors courses, this incredible scholarship helps to cover costs for four semesters (two full academic years) at a regionally accredited four year college/university.

- Application for both found on the Foundation website
