    Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society
    Alpha Mu Tau Chapter

    The purpose of this chapter is to promote scholarship, develop leadership, provide service to the community and the College, and cultivate friendship and fellowship among its members.

    MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS

    Active Members


    An Active Member is a student who:
        1) has completed at least twelve (12) semester hours of college credit coursework at Collin
            College, with a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.50,
        2) is currently enrolled in Collin College,
        3) has been invited by mail,
        4) has paid all one-time dues (International, Regional, and Chapter),
        5) adheres to the College Student Code of Conduct, and follows all College policies,
            including the Student Organization Policies and Procedures Manual,
        6) possesses recognized qualities of good citizenship, and
        7) maintains at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA.

    Provisional Members
      
    A Provisional Member is a student who:
        1) is currently enrolled in Collin College
        2) has shown an active interest in the affairs of the Society and serves the Society in some
            capacity, but does not yet meet the full requirements for active membership in the
            Society,
        3) has paid one-time Chapter dues only,
        4) adheres to the College Student Code of Conduct, and follows all College policies,
            including the Student Organization Policies and Procedures Manual,
        5) possesses recognized qualities of good citizenship, and
        6) maintains at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA.

    Enhanced Members

    Enhanced Membership is available to a Member who has fulfilled all the requirements for Active Membership and has also fulfilled requirements for one or more of the levels of Enhanced Membership as outlined in Article XII. Enhanced Membership can be earned for only one year at a time, and may be earned for each year of Active Membership. Only Enhanced Members at the Three Star or higher level are eligible for Chapter scholarships.

    Alumni Members


    An Alumni Member:
        1) is a former Member of the Chapter who is no longer enrolled at the College but is in good
            standing with the Chapter,
        2) is welcome to participate in all Chapter activities,
        3) is entitled to all privileges of Chapter Membership except the right to vote or to hold office,
        4) may or may not be involved in a Phi Theta Kappa Alumni Chapter at a four-year college
            or university.

    Honorary Members


    Honorary membership in the Chapter may be granted to persons other than students who have rendered distinguished service to the Chapter. An Honorary Member may not vote or hold office, but may participate in all other Chapter activities. An Honorary Member is not required to pay membership dues at any level or to be inducted into membership.

    Transfer Members (Members Transferring into Alpha Mu Tau)

    Upon transfer to Collin College, a Member is Good Standing of another chapter may transfer membership to Alpha Mu Tau Chapter by requesting a letter of transfer from the previous chapter's Advisor or Executive Committee. This letter should be submitted to the Primary Contact Advisor of Alpha Mu Tau Chapter. The Transfer Member must meet all Chapter requirements for membership but membership will be accepted with a maintenance GPA. The Transfer Member must pay Chapter dues. Upon acceptance of membership transfer, the Transfer Member will have the option of requesting and paying for a new membership certificate from International, noting the transfer. A Transfer Member who has completed all procedures for transfer becomes a Member with all rights and privileges of Chapter membership. Upon completion of transfer, the Primary Advisor will notify the Registrar's Office of the Phi Theta Kappa membership transfer, so it may be placed on the Collin College transcript.
