Course Description
Cake Decorating I

Learn what cake decorating tools are available and the different styles of decorating. The instructor will demonstrate and discuss many of the techniques that will be used during the course. Hints, tips, and icing recipes will be given and how to properly bake, torte, fill, and ice a cake. Learn how to cover a cake board and transport cakes.

Cake Decorating II

Continue icing techniques and variations of designs. Learn to make a variety of animals and other small figures, piping, flower making, basket weave techniques and pattern transfers. You will be introduced to the popular fondant covered cake.

Additional costs may be involved in these courses.
Course Objectives
Cake Decorating I

1. Identify equipment needed to decorate cakes
2. Prepare a cake for icing
3. Prepare various icings and ice cake
4. Learn how to fill and properly hold the frosting bag
5. Demonstrate various border and garland decorations
6. Demonstrate various top decorations such as flowers and writing

Cake Decorating II

1. Learn to make a variety of animals and figures
2. Practice complex borders, scrollwork, swags, and ruffles
3. Discover the flower nail and how to make beautiful royal icing flowers
4. Work with popular fondant cake
