Course Description
Fashion Design I - Explore the basic principles of developing silhouette illustrations to fashion industry standards. Emphasis on heavy sketching practice, basic principles of proportion of the fashion figure and an introduction to color.

Fashion Design II - Continuation of Fashion Design I with emphasis on sketching the fashion figure in more detail. Concentration on how to illustratate specific fabrics: tafetta, satin, wool, lace. How to achieve a specific look for your illustrations using methods for drawing makeup, hair and accessories. Preparation for illustration of line development.
Prerequisite: Fashion Design I or previous drawing experience

Course Objectives
  1. Assess the realistic figure as opposed to the elongated fashion figure
  2. Focus on fashion poses
  3. Learn basic building blocks of the fashion figure for men, women and teens
  4. Understand proportions including hands in fashion, feet and shoes, face, makeup and hair
  5. Introduction to color mediums and techniques.
