Course Description

The first module in the Montessori Pre-Primary Teacher Training program focuses on curriculum activities designed to prepare the child for real life experiences and to develop the child's independence and self-confidence. The individual exercises develop the child's hand-eye coordination, large and small muscle control, care of self and the environment. The first hour of instruction each session is devoted to the study of classroom management and the Montessori philosophy.

Prerequisite: Students must have a high school diploma and be able to write and speak English fluently.

Montessori modules may be taken in any order.

Course Objectives
  1. Focus on activities designed to prepare child for real life experiences.
  2. Develop child's independence and self-confidence.
  3. Develop child's hand-eye coordination, large and small muscle control.
  4. Develop child's care of self and the environment.
  5. Understand classroom management and the Montessori philosophy.
