  Since offering its first classes at area high schools in 1985, Collin College has expanded to serve more than 56,000 credit and continuing education students each year. The only public college based in the county, the college offers more than 100 degrees and certificates in a wide range of disciplines, including a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), a Bachelor of Applied Technology (BAT) in Cybersecurity, and a new Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) in Construction Management to be offered beginning fall 2022.. Certification Agencies and Exam Information

Certification provides proof of the demonstration of basic knowledge and skills involved for each of the specific areas below. Certification can be a source of recognition nationwide, an aid for career advancement, and a condition of employment.

American Heart Association

The American Heart Association (AHA) provides

certification for students in Basic Life Support.

The course, with examination, is offered every week

at either the Courtyard Center or the McKinney

Campus.

Allied Health

NHA provides certification for

Medical Administrative Assistant.

TSBDE provides certification for

Dental Assistants.

Exams are offered at the McKinney Campus once per

semester.

Medical Coding

AAPC provides certification for

Medical Coders.

NCSBN provides certification for

Nurse Aides.

Nursing Refresher

The Texas Board of Nursing provides certification for students

wishing to refresh their nursing skills or renew an inactive license.

Nursing Refresher course offered through CE fills the requirement.

No exam is needed.
