Keeley Bowman

Keeley Bowman is a hands-on learner and instructor. She teaches online Medical Billing and Medical Coding courses. "In the online environment, I have come up with creative ways to engage the students in their coursework and career. Research about their careers and "where" the students are headed is one of the best learner outcomes I have seen in my online classrooms. I feel the coursework teaches the students "how" to master the content area, but having the students research their career possibilities brings the courses full circle and keeps the students engaged."

Mixed with humor to assess engagement and understanding, students experience lively lectures, discussions, quizzes and exams to prepare them for the Medical Billing or Medical Coding National Certification exam. The Collin College Continuing Education Medical Billing and Coding Certificate Series has a great reputation. In fact, four former students sit on the board of directors of the American Academy of Professional Coders.

Q: When you aren't teaching Continuing Education courses, how do you spend your spare time?
A: Other than Continuing Education courses, I am also the Clinical Coordinator and HIM Professor for Collin College. Outside of work I love spending time with my family, usually out at sporting events.  I also enjoy staying in tune with my health and working out daily to keep energy levels high.
