Faculty

Tiffanee Arnold, MFA

Tiffanee Arnold is currently the Chair of the Dance Department and Professor of Dance. As Chair of the Dance Department, Tiffanee is responsible for all aspects of the department including curriculum development, student advising, budgeting, recruitment, marketing, website development, strategic planning, course scheduling, college task forces and managing and hiring of all part-time faculty.

Tiffanee has grown the dance program dramatically in her years at Collin College. When she began teaching in 1998, the dance department offered just nine courses, all held in one dance studio, with an enrollment of only 122 students. Currently, students may choose among twenty-three dance courses offered on three campuses in four dance studios. Student enrollment in dance has grown steadily each year with over 800 student enrollments in Spring 2010. Her initiative at Collin College won Tiffanee the 1998 Promising Professional Kitty McGee Alumni Award from Texas Woman's University (where she earned her MFA in Dance Performance and Choreography).

Under the direction of Tiffanee Arnold, Collin College's Dance Program has gained the reputation for excellence in dance education, choreography and performance. Tiffanee has created opportunities for educational enrichment through dance seminars, workshops, summer dance festivals and camps, choreography showcases, and guest artist residencies with international companies such as: Jhon R. Stronks (Los Angeles), Pilobolus Too (Pilobolus Dance Theatre), Battleworks Dance Company (New York), Taylor 2 (Paul Taylor Dance Company), Janice Garrett & Dancers (San Francisco), Eisenhower Dance Ensemble (Michigan), Cheryl Chaddick Dance Theatre (Austin), Houston Metropolitan Dance Company (Houston) and Elledanceworks Dance Company (Dallas).

The success of the Collin Dance Ensemble (CDE), the repertory student dance company, has garnered not only regional but national attention. As Artistic Director, Tiffanee choreographs, advises student choreography and serves as production manager. CDE provides unparalleled opportunities for community-college students to perform and to create their own pieces. CDE maintains a strong presence in the DFW dance community with performances at area high schools, festivals and college-wide events. Every spring, the company performs at the American College Dance Regional Festivals. There, among four-year colleges and graduate programs, these two-year community college dancers have been honored six times by selection for the Gala performances. Specifically, Tiffanee's choreography Stood Up and Over It, Dunes, Prisoners, and Momentum have been honored by selection for the Gala. In June 2008 the American College National Dance Festival invited CDE to perform in New York.

In 2005, Tiffanee received the Outstanding Professor Award in the Fine Arts Division at Collin College. Her undergraduate institution, Western Illinois University, awarded her its Distinguished Dance Alumni Award in 2007. She has also received numerous "Faculty Recognized Scholarships" on behalf of the Collin College President to honor her service to the college by giving financial assistance to college dance students.

In addition to teaching at Collin College, Tiffanee continues to teach master classes at the American College Regional Dance Festivals and has been commissioned for dance residencies at Western Illinois University, Stephen F. Austin State University, Texas Woman's University, Newman Smith High School and Booker T. Washington High School for the Visual and Performing Arts.

Tiffanee is currently in her eleventh season as a member with a Dallas-based professional dance company, Elledanceworks Dance Company.

Tiffanee will be on sabbatical leave during the fall 2010 semester and will be returning to her duties as chair, professor and artistic director in January 2011. Dance professors, Lesley Snelson-Figueroa & Meghan Cardwell-Wilson, will be taking over the leadership of the dance department during her sabbatical absence.
