Jerry E. Smith is a Professor of Art at Collin College. He received his BFA from Emporia State University, Emporia, KS and his MFA from University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS.
He has show nationally and internationally, and was awarded a fellowship to Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Skowhegan, MA. Most recently he had an invitational solo exhibition at Pittsburg State University’s Museum of Art, the Ormond Museum of Art Ormond FL, and was selected as part of “Emerging Artists 2017” at the Museum Director at the Museum of Arts and Science in Macon, GA,. He has multiple times been accepted for the Texas National, participated in The Hunting Prize, and received an award from Guggenheim Associate Director Nate Trotman at at the Brooklyn Artist Coalition. He has written reviews for Glass Tire, and presented lecturer at The School of Visual Arts NYC and the Texas Association of Schools of Art.
He currently teaches Drawing and Art Appreciation, and also has taught Painting & Life Painting at Collin since, 2005
