Kathy Morgan

Professor of Music Theory and Choral Studies

Kathy Morgan, is a Professor of Music at Collin College. She conducts three choirs as well as teaches Music Theory, Ear Training, Piano and Conducting. She has been teaching at Collin since 1997 and received the Outstanding Faculty Award in 2002. She has a Masters of Music in Choral Conducting from Indiana University as well as a Masters of Music in Music Theory and Composition from University of California, Riverside. In addition, she finished the coursework for a Ph.D. in Musicology at University of North Texas. She is a member of TMEA, TTCCDA and JEN. 

Her choirs at Collin have been a part of many collaborations with our community such as Irving Symphony and Allen Symphony as well as Plano Men of Note. In addition, her singers often perform for Collin events such as Hispanic Heritage, MLK, and Springfest. Her collaborations with the Dance department include performing Vivaldi’s Gloria and Britten’s Ceremony of Carols with Tiffanee Arnold’ Collin Dance Ensemble. Prof. Arnold and Morgan also cohosted Collin Talent Show for ten years. 

Most recently the pop group, OneSound competed at ICCA for the first time and was awarded 4th place in Quarterfinals. Collin College Chamber Choir collaborated with both Irving Symphony and Collin’s opera theatre ensemble to do the opera, Carmen.
