Usher Duties

 

USHER DUTIES
CHECK-IN WITH THE HOUSE MANAGER BEFORE EACH PERFORMANCE AT LEAST ONE HOUR PRIOR TO THE CURTAIN TIME.

Pre-Show
Dress business casual or in black and white
Arrive 1 hour before show begins
Check-in with House Manager/ Box Office booth
Attend Usher Orientation

  • Attire approval
  • Wear name tag provided by House Manager
  • Review theatre rules and restrictions 
  • Review Emergency Information Sheet, locate first aid kit and emergency phone
  • Review show program for overview of production
  • Maintain a professional attitude
  • Welcome and assist guest as needed
  • Receive job assignment (ex: hand out programs, scan/ collect tickets)
  • Monitor guest inside the theatre
  • Check lobby for cleanliness
  • No cell phones

30 Minutes to Performance
Hand out programs
Scan/ Collect tickets
Welcome and assist guest as needed
Monitor guest inside the theatre
Ensure all theatre rules are being followed inside the theatre

Intermission
Open doors as directed by the House Manager
Monitor and assist guest as needed
Ensure all theatre rules are being followed inside the theatre

After Performance
Assist guest exiting the theatre
Encourage guest to move to the lobby to wait for cast and crew members.
Recycle programs that can be reused.
Inform the House Manager when the theatre is cleared of guest
Check-out with House Manager

  • House Manager will sign forms for volunteer hours, extra credit, or attendance
