Initial F-1 Visa Applicants (Outside the U.S.)

 

Step 1:   Complete the Collin College International Application for Admission

International student applications must have accurate student information, including your home country address to issue an I-20.

Step 2: Official TOEFL (institution code: 6805) or IELTS scores must be submitted with the following minimum scores to be considered college-level ready:

              TOEFL--525 for the paper based test or 71 for internet based test
              IELTS--6.5 or higher

TOEFL/ILETS scores will not exempt you from Texas Success Initiative (TSI) needed to determine your college placement.  For more information aboutTSI Assessement and exemptions click here.

English as a Second Language Program (ESL)

TOEFL or ILETS scores for the English Language Program must be submitted with the following minimum scores:

IELTS--4.5 (4.0 minimum in each skill)

TOEFL iBT 32 (8 minimum in each skill)

TOEFL pBT 385 (93 minimum in each skill)

Step 3: Complete the Financial Information Worksheet AND provide supporting documentation for at least one of the following:

      Bank statement showing balance equal or
      greater than $24,000.

  Parents, relatives or friends (if outside
  U.S.)

  • Letter of guarantee from sponsor AND
 
• Bank statement showing balance equal or

  • I-134 form (I-134 instructions) AND
 
• Bank statement showing balance equal or
    greater than $24,000.

  Your Government

  • Official letter confirming type and amount of financial
    aid.

Step 4: Submit transcripts from foreign high school or college; unofficial transcripts acceptable. 

Step 5: A copy of the front page of your passport showing your name, country of origin, and the expiration date of the passport.

Step 6: Bacterial Meningitis Vaccine is required of all students who are under the age of 22 a least 10 days before the start of the semester.

Step 7: Mail or email all required documents found in steps 2 through 6 to:

Step 8:
Before you make an appointment at the American Consulate for your F-1 VISA click on the SEVIS I-901 fee payment link and print the receipt.

Upon arrival to the U.S., please report to the International Students Office with the original documents of:

                  > Current I-20

                  > I-94

                  > Visa

                 > ISO Local or Foreign Address Form
