Tuition and Fees
Tuition is based on residency and the number of credit hours in which a student enrolls. Following is a schedule of tuition and fees for the current terms by residency classification.  If the charges on your student account are higher than you expect based on your county of residence and enrollment hours, verify your residency classification status with the Admissions and Records Office.

Lab fees are additional costs. Other fees may be assessed as new programs are developed. These fees will be kept to a practical minimum.
Students participating in commencement ceremonies must purchase graduation regalia (cap and gown) from the college bookstore.

Students are responsible for maintaining their course registration status for a term, meeting all payment deadline requirements, and complying with Collin's Student Financial Responsibility agreement.


 

Per Texas Education Code 54.007(2)(d): A STUDENT WHO FAILS TO MAKE FULL PAYMENT OF TUITION AND MANDATORY FEES, INCLUDING ANY INCIDENTAL FEES, BY THE DUE DATE MAY BE PROHIBITED FROM REGISTERING FROM CLASSES UNTIL FULL PAYMENT IS MADE. A STUDENT WHO FAILS TO MAKE FULL PAYMENT PRIOR TO THE END OF THE SEMESTER OR TERM MAY BE DENIED CREDIT FOR THE WORK DONE THAT SEMESTER OR TERM. 


It is the policy of the college to revoke check-writing privileges to persons from whom it has received more than three returned checks. A $25 fee for each returned check will be assessed. Balances incurred from returned checks and/or past due payments may not be paid with a check.


Even-exchange course swapping (add/drop of equal hours with no additional charges assessed) is not allowed once a semester begins.  New registration will be charged per the tuition rates below, and courses dropped after the semester begins will only be refunded based on the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board refund rules.  For example, if a student drops a three hour course at 12:01 a.m. on August 26, they will receive a credit of no more than 70 percent and will still have charges of at least 30 percent for the dropped course, even if another course with the same number of hours is added.  As an example, 30 percent of the charges for a dropped three hour course for the fall 2013 term would be:

 It is highly recommended all students finalize their schedules prior to the first day of the term to avoid tuition and fee charges for courses that are dropped and not attended.

Firefightersand Valedictorian students who provide documentation of eligibility and qualify for a tuition waiver, are required to pay the building use and student record fees charged to all students.

Students who qualify for the Hazlewood Exemption are responsible for paying the student life and record fees.

Tuition Installment Payment Plan
Need help with your tuition and fees? Collin College offers a deferred payment tuition plan in an effort to help students reach their educational goals.The deferred payment option is available for both the spring and fall terms. It is not available for the summer terms.

For the Fall 2014 term, the installment plan will be available July 22-August 29, 2014.  If you elect to sign an installment plan during Early Registration, it must be completed by July 30, 2014, to reserve Early Registration course enrollment. Installment plans may also be initiated on the day of enrollment during Regular and Late Registration, August 2-29.  Please note, making a 50% payment does not fulfill installment plan requirements.  An installment plan agreement must be completed on-line with an electronic signature and scheduled payment for the two future installment plan payments must be completed.   Installment plans have been improved to facilitate timely installment payments.  Payments for the Fall term installments are due September 18 and October 16, and must be scheduled at the time of on-line plan initiation.  The scheduled payments will be automatically deducted from the students' designated financial institution on the installment payment deadline.  For each late payment, including scheduled payments that are not completed by the designated financial institution, a $25 late fee late installment fee will be assessed to the student account. and accounts in default of the payment schedule are subject to changes in course registration status.   In addition, 50 percent of any additional tuition and fee charges for any course added after the initial installment plan payment must be paid on the day of registration for the additional courses to ensure course enrollment.  To initiate a payment plan, students log into CougarWeb, select the Quicklink, Pay by Credit Card/Check, and then the Collin College Account Suite Bar.  Once in the secure payment area, choose the payment plan for the current term and follow the prompts to save the payment method for the installments, sign the promissory note, and make the initial 50 percent plus $25 payment.  Students who are not yet 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian initiate the payment plan at a Cashier Office location on the student's behalf.  The promissory note must be signed in person by the parent or guardian.

Why can't my parents/spouse/employer have access to my student information?The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act  (FERPA) affords eligible students  (students 18 and older who attend a secondary institution) certain rights with respect to their education records.  These rights include a right to privacy for educational records.  For your convenience, you may designate individuals of your choice as authorized users on your student account and define the level of access you grant.  You can limit access to only view charges and make a payment or to see both the charge and payment history on your student account.  To set up an authorized user, log in to CougarWeb, then select the Quicklink Pay by Credit Card/Check, and the Collin College Account Suite to enter the secure payment suite. Select the Authorized User tab, indicate the level of access you want to grant to your account, and provide the E-mail address of the individual(s) to whom you want to grant access. The individual(s) will be sent an E-mail notifying them of the access granted and providing the PIN they will need to access the account information you authorized.  Or, if you prefer, if you want your parent, employer, significant other, etc. granted access to your educational records, you may authorize it in writing for specific times and purposes.
