Destination College: The Parent Workshop

This popular workshop will provide parents with the essentials of planning and preparing for your students' college experience.  Speakers will address practical parenting concerns, strategies for a successful college admissions process, and financial aid resources and terminology.  Join us for an entertaining and informative evening.  Dinner will be provided starting at 6 p.m.  The program will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m.  Please note that this workshop is for parents only.

How to Apply for Financial Aid

How do I apply?  What is a FAFSA?  Get help in sorting out the facts from the myths.  This workshop will introduce you to financial aid concepts such as the different types of aid, the application process and more.


Collin College Pre-Admission Partnerships: Transferring to Universities

Representatives from each of Collin College's pre-admission partner colleges/universities will provide information about their program's benefits, the application process, financial aid scholarships and ways to prepare for college.  The partners will meet parents and students during individual breakout sessions.  Information tables from university partners and Collin College will be available for browsing.

Collin College's University Partners are: Austin College, Baylor University, Dallas Baptist University, Southern Methodist University, Texas A&M University - Commerce, Texas Tech University, Texas Woman's University, Texas Wesleyan University, The University of Texas at Dallas, and the University of North Texas. 

Please note: Browsing tables will be available from 6 - 6:20 p.m.  Welcome remarks and breakout sessions will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Are you planning on attending Collin College in the summer or fall 2015? If so, this workshop walks you through each step of the process to get started, from admissions to advising and applying for financial aid.  Representatives from various student services departments will be available to answer your individual questions.  Please note:  No dual credit information will be discussed at this workshop.  This session is intended for those who are graduating or who have already graduated from high school.

From High School to College:  Your Successful Transition Begins Now!

After the applications have been completed, acceptances received and the college selected, it's time for you to make the big leap to your new life as a college freshman.  Laying the foundation for a successful transition to college actually begins in high school.  This session will show you how the college search, selection and application process can help you develop the skills and the confidence to begin college with an effective and appropriate mindset for you to be immediately successful and to thrive continuously throughout your college career.
