CLINICAL REQUIREMENTS

Clinical components are required for HIM students to be placed in a Clinical setting. Clinicals will be conducted in a Monday-Friday, 8 am-5 pm timeframe. Students who work should make arrangements with their employers
Clinical components:

Immunizations

Immunizations are required by our Clinical partners. It is important students understand they will not be placed in a Clinical setting without the proper documentation of immunity. The following immunizations are required:

Ø  Measles, Mumps, Rubella - 2 series shot/titer proving immunity

Ø  Varicella - 2 series shot/titer proving immunity

Ø  Hepatitis B - 3 series shot/titer proving immunity. Thisseries takes six months to complete

Ø  Tetanus/ Diphtheria/ Pertussis - within the last ten years

The following should be completed only prior to Clinical placement.

Ø  Tuberculosis Screening - annual screening

Ø  Influenza Vaccination - within current season

Recommended :  Hepatitis A- 2 series shot/titer proving immunity

Insurance

Current health insurance is required for Clinical placement.

         Ø  Application (Student Handbook Acknowledgement and Confidentiality Statement)

         Ø  HIPAA Acknowledgment Form

         Ø  Code of Conduct Form

 Drug Screen

Drug screens will be conducted prior to Clinical placement. The cost of the test is $29.87 payable by the HIM student. Clinical instructor will provide more information.

Background Checks

Background checks will also be conducted prior to Clinical placement. The cost is covered by the HIM program. Instructions will be provided by the HIM office and facilitated through GroupOne Services.
Note: It is strongly recommended that applicants self disclose any potential infractions that may hinder clinical placement and career opportunities.
