CCCCD Art Gallery Features Professors' Artwork

August 17, 2001- THE ARTS gallery at Collin County Community College District will show Exhibition One: The Faculty, from August 20 - September 14. Receptions with the artists will be held September 4 at 6 p.m. and September 5 at 11:30 a.m.

Free and open to the public, the first show of the fall semester features a wide variety of artwork created by the college's professors. The exhibit includes painting, watercolor, printmaking, mixed media, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, graphic design and photography.

"I am impressed as always at how varied the work is. I've been to colleges where all the work is the same. This college hires for diversity in approach both in teaching and creating. Once a student asked me where he could get the best education, and I told him if you want viewpoints from all over the world, stay here because we have teachers from all over the world," said Rex Reece, CCCCD art coordinator and art lab coordinator.

THE ARTS gallery is located in room A175 of the college's Spring Creek Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Pkwy, in Plano. Gallery hours are Monday - Thursday 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. -5 p.m. For more information, call THE ARTS gallery at 972-881-5873 or Vicki Mayhan, director of galleries, at 972-881-5145.
