CCCCD Offers Cisco Class In Allen

September 21, 2001- Collin County Community College District is now offering Cisco classes at CCCCD@ALLEN. The college is offering area residents "Local Area Management (LAN): Cisco III" from 6-11 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday evenings. The first class starts Tuesday, August 28.

The Cisco III class covers skill development in managing traffic in local area networks (LAN) and in the management of network devices for LANs. It also includes configuring for routers for IPX protocol, filtering traffic in an IPX environment and identifying and resolving network congestion problems. While the college has had a Cisco Academy for high school students at Allen High School for the last three years, this is the first time classes will be available for college students at CCCCD@ALLEN.

CCCCD is one of six Cisco Academy Training Centers (CATC) in the world and has trained Cisco professors from around the globe. The college offers Cisco classes at Preston Ridge Campus in Frisco and Central Park Campus in McKinney. CCCCD also has eight Cisco Networking Academies at area high schools in Allen, McKinney, Wylie, Farmersville, Rockwall, Royse City, Tom Bean and Collinsville.

According to Kathy Fant, CCCCD engineering technology education specialist and coordinator of the high school academies, the new class in Allen was created to make Cisco classes more accessible to area residents. "The Cisco Academies' curriculum is continually changing to keep up with technology. We are pleased to be able to partner with Allen ISD to expand course offerings in Allen," said Fant.
