CCCCD Hosts Author Donna Woolfolk Cross

OCT. 31, 2001- Collin County Community College District's (CCCCD) student activities division hosts historical fiction writer Donna Woolfolk Cross. She will be presenting her latest novel "Pope Joan: The Fascinating Mystery of History," at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 5, at the Spring Creek Campus, 2800 Spring Creek Parkway in Plano, Room F108. She will also present the piece at 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at the Central Park Campus, 2200 W. University in McKinney, in Pike Hall. The presentations are free and open to the public.

Set in the 9th century, "Pope Joan" is the legend of a woman who disguised herself as a man and sat on the papal throne for two years. It is also the author's first novel. Donna Woolfolk Cross has written two books on language, "Word Abuse," and "Mediaspeak," and co-authored "Speaking of Words." Ms. Cross graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor's degree in English and from UCLA with a master's degree in literature and writing.
