CCCCD Nursing Professor Receives Honor

NOV. 05 , 2001 - Collin County Community College District (CCCCD) dental hygiene professor Jeanette Vaughan, RN, MSN, CCRN, was named Distinguished Alumni for 2001 by Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock. Awards were given for Divisions of Medicine, Biomedical Science, Physical Therapy and Nursing. Vaughan was selected from all of the previous graduates of the nursing program.

Among her many accomplishments, she was the only United States nurse to be part of GamesForce2000, the official workforce of the Sydney Olympic Games.

Vaughan said of the honor, "Receiving this award was a very proud moment for me. The Olympic position in Sydney allowed me to pull together my professional skills, love for service and volunteerism, and passion for sports together in what was the most exciting volunteer assignment I have ever experienced. It felt wonderful to represent my profession and my country."

She is also a member of Baylor Medical Center's Division of NeuroSciences/Trauma. Vaughan was honored during a reception and banquet. In addition, she was given a crystal engraved sculpture, a set of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center pens and a pair of sterling silver earrings.
