CCCCD Hosts Music Industry Conference

NOV. 12, 2001 - The Collin County Community College District (CCCCD) hosts the annual Music Industry Conference Tuesday, Nov. 13 through Saturday, Nov. 17 at the Spring Creek Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. This conference provides the necessary information for aspiring musicians. This year's conference is expanded from one day to five days with informative sessions each day. The conference is $10 for the public and $5 for CCCCD students. Saturday's lunch and awards ceremony are included for those who pre-register by November 15. "The Dallas Observer," Mars Music and the CCCCD Music Department are major sponsors of this year's conference.

Topics covered during the week include art for music, analog audio advantages, and sound design, a recital, digital audio file management, obtaining internships and entry-level jobs, synthesis and digidesign demo, a lecture on MIDI installation and Do's and Don'ts of recording sessions. Saturday wraps up the week with how to make a record, legal issues for musicians, other jobs in the music industry and "on the road with Pink Floyd."

Conference panelists include Chris Bell (Grammy Nominated Audio Engineer-Palmera Studios), Hal Fitzgerald (Engineer-Luminous Studios), Jake Schaefer (Digidesign), Charles McGarry (Attorney and Former Chief Justice of Texas Supreme Court), Bob Hickey (Former Sound Engineer for Pink Floyd), Bobby Greeson (Graphic Artist), Shayne Green (Video Post and Transfer), Kent Stump (Crystal Clear Sound), Larry Maughan (CCCCD Cooperative Education Office), Chip Tredo (Surround Sound Systems), Andy Duckworth (CCCCD), Patrick Keel (CCCCD), Dr. Casey McClure (CCCCD), Dr. Chris Morgan (CCCCD).
