CCCCD Hosts Career Events

FEB. 08, 2002-Cooperative Work Experience & Career Services at CCCCD will host the following career events to be held at various campuses district-wide this spring. All events on all campuses are free and open to the community. CYC is the Courtyard Center for Professional and Economic Development, 4800 Preston Park Blvd. in Plano. PRC is the Preston Ridge Campus, 9700 Wade Blvd. in Frisco. Groups of five or more persons are requested to call the Cooperative Work Experience & Career Services office at 972-881-5781 ahead to ensure that adequate space and materials will be available for them.

Business Ethics: Still a Company Value? Friday, Feb. 15, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., CYC A106 Have you ever given thought to the ethical values of a company to which you applied for employment? Does the level of honesty presented and practiced by your employer matter to you? How important is the practice of ethical behavior to employers? This session will provide the activities to help answer these questions. Presenter: Sylvia L. Burrow, deputy ethics officer, EDS corporation, Plano.

Maintaining Your Sanity in a Topsy-Turvy World: Saturday, Feb. 23, 8:30-10:30 a.m., CYC B409 Have you thought that your mental health is as important as your physical health? Learn how to identify signs of over stressing that can affect your mental well being, therefore, your work and productivity. Special topics to be covered also include one of America's "silent" epidemics. Come do a mental health check up. Presenter: Amy Kounas, career counselor/co-op job coordinator

Conflict Resolution; Run or Deal: Saturday, Feb. 23, 10:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m., CYC B409 Conflict is part of life. Do I avoid it at any cost, or do I learn how to deal with it? This session will discuss skills and strategies to handle conflict in a healthy way and in different situations: in relationships, at work, with family. Presenter: Dr. Eileen McGrath, Ph.D., licensed professional counselor.

Job Search Strategies Planning to Succeed: Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., PRC F109 The process of job hunting is hard work. It takes planning, scheduling, and writing a résumé that markets your skills and abilities well. In addition, there is the process of where and how to find the job that suits you best. Application and interviewing is another set of skills to acquire or enhance in preparation for your job search. All of these topics will be included in this session that will involve presentation, group interaction, and opportunity to ask questions.
