CCCCD Hosts Forum

FEB. 08, 2002-On Friday, Feb. 8, several Republican candidates seeking the U.S. House of Representative's seat soon to be vacated by U.S. Congressman Richard "Dick" Armey will appear at the next Legislative Breakfast Series event at 7:30 a.m. at CCCCD's Central Park Campus, 2200 W. University Dr. (Hwy. 380) in McKinney. This entire event is free and open to the public.

Congressman Dick Armey has chosen not to run for re-election in November 2002, and since the District 26 seat in Collin County represents booming portions of the towns of McKinney and Frisco, this will be a highly contested vacancy among Mr. Armey's fellow Republicans. Those seeking to be elected include Scott Armey, Michael Burgess, Keith Self and Roger Sessions, all of whom will attend the event and share their perspectives on local issues. David Gulling, Dave Kovatch and Michael Paris have also been invited to join the discussions.

This candidates' forum, and the legislative series in general, is being co-hosted by the McKinney Chamber of Commerce, the city of McKinney, the McKinney Independent School District and the Collin County Community College District. Civic leaders and interested citizens are welcome to attend this forum and to engage in constructive discussions on issues impacting the cities of Frisco and McKinney.

These forums will continue over the next several months. For additional information, contact Linda Dixon, events director at the McKinney Chamber of Commerce at 972.542.0163 or the Central Park Campus's provost office at 972.548.6800.
