CCCCD Offers New Certification In Project Management

APRIL 9, 2002 - New this fall, Collin County Community College District's (CCCCD) Project Management Program will offer a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification. The courses offered can be applied towards the Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate, the college's associate of applied science degree in management development, or a bachelor's degree in business management at four year universities such as the University of North Texas, Dallas Baptist University, or Amberton University, made possible through existing academic agreements.

CAPM certified managers will expand their knowledge base by learning to evaluate project control plans; suggest performance indicators and limits; assist with refining project requirements, assumptions, and constraints; and support administrative and financial closure.

The CAPM certificate program mimics the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification but requires fewer classroom hours and fewer months of job experience. The CAPM certificate program is designed for professionals with fewer years of project management experience as compared to professionals who are PMP certified.
