CCCCD Hosts Young Artists Conservatory

MAY 16, 2002 - Collin County Community College District will host the 13th annual Texas Conservatory for Young Artists (TCYA) June 16 - 23 in the John Anthony Theatre at the Spring Creek Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano.

An international roster of concert pianists and teachers will hold masterclasses and classical concerts. Gifted young pianists from across the nation will also participate.

Teachers' classes will be lead by Scott Cantrell, Russell Sherman, Laura Spitzer and Bryce Morrison. Masterclasses will be lead by Marc Durand, Bryce Morrison and Laura Spitzer. Hector Guzman, director of the Plano Symphony Orchestra, will conduct the TCYA Young Artists in open masterclasses and two free concerts. Recitals will be given by Russell Sherman, Marc-Andre Hamelin and Nelson Goerner. Sunday and evening recital tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students and seniors. Noon recitals are $5.

The Plano Symphony Orchestra will perform a concerto at 7 p.m. on June 19, and the Young Artists orchestra will perform a recital at 3 p.m. on June 23. Both concerts are free and open to the public.
