The Arts Gallery Presents "Classical Allegories"

JUNE 21, 2002 - Collin County Community College District's THE ARTS gallery will feature works by professional artists Barbara Elam and Kelli Hoppmann, Monday, July 1 - Wednesday, July 31 in the THE ARTS gallery at the Spring Creek Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano.

THE ARTS gallery presents an exhibition of works by two professional artists. Barbara Elam, associate professor of art at Rockford College, Rockford, Illinois, will exhibit works based on imagery inspired by a sabbatical to Florence, Italy. Ms. Elam uses printmaking techniques to contrast antiquity to modernity. Classical scenes combine with scenes of everyday life reflecting challenges facing the human spirit.

Kelli Hoppmann, a Wisconsin artist, will exhibit paintings and artist books. Using the meticulous rendering style of traditional Northern European oil painting, Ms. Hoppmann offers classical and modern allegory in jewel tones.

Summer hours for the gallery are Monday - Wednesday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Thursday 9 a.m. - 7 p.m., and Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. For more information, call THE ARTS gallery at 972-881-5873, or Vicki Mayhan, director of galleries, at 972-881-5145.
