Collin College's The Arts Gallery Presents "Intervallum"

JULY 26, 2002 - Collin College's THE ARTS gallery features an interactive multimedia show titled Intervallum: Spatium. Located on the Spring Creek campus, 2800 East Spring Creek Parkway in Plano, this exhibit is just one portion of a 3-campus show. Spatium (Latin for "space") is a completely immersive environment with multiple video projections and surround sound audio. The images will include 3-D animations and models of the other Intervallum (Latin for "a space of time") installations, as well as real-time processing of the participants who are captured on video as they wander around.

Intervallum will also be at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) and the ArtCentre of Plano. UTD's exhibit will focus on time perception and will feature a large sundial sculpture titled "Psychochronometric Fantasy" and the ArtCentre of Plano will house "Flexus," focusing on the concept of space-time curvature, light sculptures, 3-D video animation and live audio.

All three sites will feature a real-time computer music system in which ambient audio is recorded, processed and spatialized through a multi-loudspeaker sound system.

An artist reception will be held at all three campuses at 6 p.m., Friday, August 23. An additional reception will be held at 6 p.m., Wednesday, August 28, in THE ARTS gallery.

Gallery hours are Monday - Thursday 9 a.m. - 8 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. For more information, visit the exhibit site at, or the gallery site at, or call THE ARTS gallery at 972.881.5873.
