McRae Named To Leadership Program

SEPTEMBER 9, 2002 - Dr. Mary McRae, vice-president of student development at Collin County Community College District, has been chosen as a participant in the 2002-2003 annual Leadership Plano Program. Running nine months from September to May, the leadership program is designed to bring individuals together who are dedicated to enhancing their leadership skills and to serving the Plano community. Dr. McRae has worked for CCCCD and has been a Plano resident for 16 years.

The Leadership Plano Program is currently in its 20th year. Each year's class is limited in size to 30 dedicated participants. The Plano Chamber of Commerce began the program in the 1983. Along with 29 fellow classmates, Dr. McRae will attend the opening retreat during the weekend of Sept. 21. There, participants will explore leadership styles, learn to utilize member differences, participate in team-building exercises, problem solve, and learn how to manage risk. Subsequent classes are held monthly.

Dr. McRae was also one of six CCCCD employees to receive a Recognition of Service and Excellence award during a recent All College Day gathering.

Dr. McRae received her terminal degree from the University of North Texas, her MS from Drake University, and her BA from Central Michigan University. Under her leadership, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board recognized the CCCCD Student Development division as exemplary in 1999-2000.
