CCCCD Names New Director Of Public Relations

SEPTEMBER 27, 2002- Collin County Community College District recently named Lisa Brittain as director of Public Relations. With more than 12 years experience in the public relations industry, Brittain joins the college from the Greater Dallas Chamber where she served as vice president of Marketing & Communications and was responsible for a broad range of activities, including developing crisis communications plans, news media relations and publicity strategies; devising media strategies; managing message development and execution; and writing and editing.

Brittain says her goal is to raise the visibility of the organization and to help develop PR strategies to support the college district's goals. "No single thing affects your earning potential and future standard of living more than education. CCCCD is a fantastic place to learn, grow and gain an educational foundation that will allow students who transfer to universities to be academically successful. I hope to shine a spotlight on the extraordinary programs offered at the college," said Brittain.

"Lisa brings a wealth of communications experience to the college," said Cary Israel, CCCCD president. "Her connections with public relations professionals and media throughout the Metroplex will be a tremendous asset to the district. We recognize her expertise and look forward to having her on-board."

Brittain has received numerous awards throughout her career, including recognition from the Society of Professional Journalists for Annual Reports and Newsletters, the Public Relations Society of America in the brochure category and the Women in Communications "Star" honor for a student career conference.

Brittain earned her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) from the Public Relations Society of America in 1997, and she holds a BA in Journalism/Public Relations from the University of Oklahoma.

Brittain is a resident of Plano, Texas.
