CCCCD Trustee Attends National Convention

OCTOBER 11, 2002 - Collin County Community College District (CCCCD) Board of Trustees member Jim Biggerstaff recently attended the national convention of the Association of Community College Trustees (AACT) in Philadelphia.

This year's theme, "Securing a Strong Financial Future," dealt with the dramatic increases in enrollment and intense demands on community colleges to do more with less. Collin County Community College District serves more than 37,000 credit and continuing education students annually, and has seen record increases in enrollment over the past few years. Due to state budget shortfalls and other factors, funding is barely keeping pace with demand and inflation.

"Funding for community colleges is a real challenge," said Biggerstaff. "But in terms of workforce training and in the ways that we are approaching the funding issue, we are ahead of the curve. We have a solid foundation here at CCCCD, and we will continue to build upon it."
