CCCCD-LULAC Young Adult Council Officers Win Awards

May 2, 2003 - Collin County Community College District's Hispanic student organization, CCCCD-LULAC Young Adult Council, was recognized with two district-level awards in its first year of existence. During the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) District III Convention Robert Villareal was named President of the Year and Stefanie Rodriguez was named Woman of the Year.

"This was a great honor for them to be recognized this way," said Lisabeth Lassiter, student organization advisor. "Not only are they a new student organization here at the college, but also a new LULAC chapter in the area."

District III competition included student officers from all over the Dallas, Denton and surrounding areas.

"I'm really happy that everyone's hard work to get our organization and chapter off the ground is paying off. Our advisor, every member of the council, the local adult LULAC councils, our college officials and especially President Israel have all had a hand in turning our determination and hard work into something successful. Winning this award is very thrilling and I am ecstatic to be a part of a fantastic council and a supportive college," stated Stefanie Rodriguez, winner of Woman of the Year Award.

LULAC is a driving force behind significant advancements and improvements to the quality of life for Hispanics across the country.
