CCCCD Director Of Dental Hygeniene Receives Good Samaritan Award

May 9, 2003 - Collin County Community College District's director of dental hygiene Joanne Fletcher received the McKinney Rotary Good Samaritan Award. The CCCCD Dental Hygiene Center recently provided dental services to 12 of the "Lost Boys of Sudan" including cleanings, exams and x-rays.

"The Sudanese students were in serious need of dental treatment," said Fletcher. "It was a pleasure to involve CCCCD's dental hygiene students by providing dental hygiene treatment to these individuals."

The dental hygiene clinic is open to the community. Services provided at a nominal fee include teeth cleaning, periodontal scaling and root planing, fluoride treatments, x-rays and the application of sealants. Appointments for the fall semester will be scheduled during the month of August.

Collin County Community College District serves more than 38,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 100 degree and certificate programs in a wide range of disciplines. In addition, CCCCD is a partner to business, government and industry, providing customized training and work force development.
