CCCCD Celebrates Jazz At Summer Camp

May 30, 2003 - The Collin County Community College District's (CCCCD) music division will hold the ninth annual Texas Jazz Camp daily from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., July 13-18 at the Spring Creek Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano.

This year's camp is excited to welcome 11-time grammy nominee Frank Mantooth to the faculty. Taught by top jazz musicians from all over the United States, the camp is open to musicians, age 13 and up, who have at least one year of general experience on a musical instrument.

Experience with jazz music is not required. Students will receive instruction on theory, improvisation, arranging and instrumental master classes and will participate in groups and sectionals.

The Texas All-Star Jazz Camp Faculty Band will perform nightly at 8 p.m. in the John Anthony Theatre at Spring Creek Campus. The evening concerts are free and open to the public. New this year, the faculty band will be recording their first live CD!

The camp fills up quickly so register early! The cost to attend camp is $225 per person or $265 to include lunch. A $25 deposit is required with registration. To receive a registration form or for more information, call Kris Berg at 972-881-5108 or email kberg@ccccd.edu.
