CCCCD Welcomes New Deans

Sept. 5, 2003 -  The Collin County Community College District (CCCCD) is pleased to announce the promotion of William Blitt to Dean of Business and Computer Science and the addition of Thomas Chesney as Dean of Communications and Humanities.

Blitt, of Allen, has been with CCCCD as coordinator and professor of computer science since 1995. He holds a master's in computer science from the Air Force Institute of Technology and a bachelor's in engineering science from the U.S. Air Force Academy. Prior to coming to the college, Blitt was math and computer science chair at Claflin College and was a Colonel in the United States Air Force.

Chesney, of Williamsport, PA, was most recently assistant dean of Integrated Studies for General Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Prior to his position in Pennsylvania, he taught English, served as director of Freshman Advising and director of Freshman Seminar Program at Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth. He holds a Ph.D. in English literature from Florida State University, a master's in English/creative writing from Minnesota State University and a bachelor's in Spanish from Washington University.

Collin County Community College District serves more than 38,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 100 degree and certificate programs in a wide range of disciplines. In addition, the CCCCD is a partner to business, government and industry, providing customized training and work force development.
