CCCCD Sponsors Cell Phone Drive

October 9, 2003 - Collin County Community College District will hold a cell phone drive the week of Oct. 20 - 24 as part of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Community members are invited to donate inactive or unused cell phones to any CCCCD campus. Drop-off locations will include the atrium areas on all campuses: Spring Creek Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Pkwy. in Plano; Central Park Campus, 2200 W. University Dr. in McKinney; Preston Ridge Campus, 9700 Wade Blvd. in Frisco; and Courtyard Center, 4800 Preston Park Blvd. in Plano.

All cell phones collected will be recycled, put back into working order, and made available to victims of domestic violence for them to use as another layer of personal security. All donations are tax-deductible.

This cell phone collection drive is part of the national Donate A Phone/Call To Protect¨ campaign and will be held in conjunction with the school's own Safety Fair, which also runs Oct. 20 - 24.

This consumer education and domestic violence awareness initiative was created to protect victims from abuse and raise funds and awareness for the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV).
