CCCCD Hosts SMU Profesor Of Geology

October 23, 2003 - SMU Professor of Geology Dr. Louis Jacobs will speak at Collin County Community College District on Thursday, Oct. 30 from 7 - 9 p.m in room C-104 at the Spring Creek Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. His lecture will be titled "Evolution, Fossils, and Public Schools." This presentation is free and open to the public.

Before becoming a professor in SMU's Department of Geological Sciences, Dr. Jacobs served as head of the Division of Paleontology at the National Museum of Kenya. He has conducted extensive field research in Pakistan, Mexico, Kenya, Cameroon, Malawi, and Yemen, as well as Texas and other parts of the United States. Supporters of his research include the National Science Foundation, the National Geographic Society, and the Institute for the Study of Earth and Man. Among his publications are Quest for the African Dinosaurs: Ancient Roots of the Modern World, Lone Star Dinosaurs, and Cretaceous Airport.
