CCCCD's Phi Theta Kappa Hosts "The Great Debate"

Nov. 14, 2003 - CCCCD's Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and The National Collegiate Honors Council invite you to participate in its last in a series of five satellite conferences focusing on the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Study Topic "Dimensions and Directions of Health: Choices in The Maze."

The final Satellite Seminar, "Heads vs. Feds: The Great Debate," will be at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 18, in room F108 (the Conference Center) of CCCCD's Spring Creek Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano.

Seminar presenters Steven Hager, Robert Stutman and Dr. Billy Martin will debate the issues surrounding the legalization of marijuana. Following the debate, Dr. Martin will offer a nonbiased, scientific perspective of the use of marijuana. Included in the discussion will be the issues of its physical and social effects, and the current laws surrounding the use and possession of the drug.

Hagar, Editor-in-Chief of High Times Magazine, works to establish the counterculture as a legitimate minority group. Stutman spent 25 years as one of the country's highest- profile Drug Enforcement Agency's (DEA) agents, responsible for more than 15,000 arrests. Dr. Martin is professor and chairman of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Virginia Commonwealth University.
