CCCCD Hosts Open House Safety Symposium

January 5, 2004 - Collin County Community College District (CCCCD), in conjunction with the local offices of the US Department of Labor, division of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and area businesses, will host an Open House Safety Symposium at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 13 in Room C103 of the Spring Creek Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano.

Featured presenters include Eugene Freeman, OSHA outreach training coordinator, discussing the role of OSHA and what is available through OSHA. In addition, Jim Fentress, corporate environmental safety and health director for Rogers-O’Brien Construction Company, will speak on the importance of safety in the construction environment; Steve Spainhouer, corporate director of Risk and Safety Management at Life Care Hospitals, will speak on safety for the business executive; and Danny Garcia has most recently worked on two OSHA training grants to help address Hispanic safety training issues in the construction industry and will speak on safety in the Hispanic community.

This symposium is an opportunity for the business community to learn more about employee safety programs and is free and open to both employers and employees in all industries.

Collin County Community College District (CCCCD) serves close to 40,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 100 degree and certificate programs in a wide range of disciplines. In addition, CCCCD is a partner to business, government and industry, providing customized training and work force development.
