CCCCD Hosts Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 2004 Power Breakfast

January 8, 2004 - Collin County Community College District (CCCCD), in conjunction with the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast Committee, will host a power breakfast to celebrate his dream. The community is invited to participate in this free event at 8 a.m., Monday, Jan. 19 at CCCCD's Spring Creek Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano.

The breakfast will include a discussion with panelists answering questions based on quotes from Dr. King. Panel guests include Cary Israel, CCCCD president; Pat Evans, mayor of Plano, Tom Muehlenbeck, Plano city manager; Greg Rushin, Plano Chief of Police; Douglas Otto, Plano ISD superintendent; Judge Ron Harris, Collin County Commissioner's Court; Dr. Mary Sias, UTD senior vice president of student alumni and external relations; Coty Anderson-Rodriguez, LULAC president; and Thomas Tsang. Texas senator Florence Shapiro will also be in attendance.

"I think this will be an exciting event since we've changed the format. We are taking 10 quotes from Dr. King for the discussion, opening up more opportunities for learning about his ideals," said Evelyn McKnight, co-chair of the breakfast committee.
