CCCCD Administrators Co-Author Book Chapter

February 20, 2004 - Two Collin County Community College District (CCCCD) administrators have recently co-authored a chapter in a book published by the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers.

Dr. Norma Johnson, director of academic advising, and Kathrine Swanson, associate dean of students, co-authored a chapter for the book "The College Transfer Student in America: The Forgotten Student." Their chapter, "Preparing Community College Students for Transfer," was presented at the University of North Texas's Institute for the Study of Transfer Students in late January.

Johnson holds a doctorate in education from Baylor University. Her undergraduate study was in speech pathology and audiology. She has been with CCCCD for the past 15 years and is a resident of Plano.

Swanson recently completed her doctorate in education from the University of North Texas. Swanson serves as a member of the executive board of the Texas Association of College and University Student Personnel Administration. This former Michigan native, now living in Plano, has been with CCCCD for the past 10 years.

CCCCD serves nearly 40,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 100 degree and certificate programs in a wide range of disciplines. In addition, CCCCD is a partner to business, government and industry, providing customized training and workforce development.
