CCCCD Hosts Auteur Film Series With "39 Steps"

February 20, 2004 - Collin County Community College District (CCCCD) presents their first Auteur Film for 2004. The screening will be Alfred Hitchcock's British classic "39 Steps," at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 23 in room C104 on the Spring Creek Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. The film is free and open to the public.

Lead character, Richard Hannay, is a Canadian visitor to 1930's London. After a disturbance at a music hall, he meets Annabella Smith who is on the run from foreign agents. He takes her back to his apartment, but they are followed and later that night, she is murdered. Fearing he will be accused, Hannay goes on the run to break the spy ring and prove his innocence.

Following the film, there will be a brief panel discussion featuring Michael Alleman, associate professor of humanities; Gloria Cockerell, professor of marketing; Sharon Bailey, director of education at the Center for Non-Profit Management and independent scholar; and Carolyn Perry, professor of humanities.

Auteurs are filmmakers whose creative vision has a definitive impact on their work. The remaining film in the series will be Hitchcock classic "Rear Window."
