CCCCD Students May Apply At SMU

June 28, 2004 -- CCCCD students interested in becoming dually enrolled at Southern Methodist University may pick up pre-admission applications on all Collin County Community College campuses. A maximum of 20 students will be accepted into CCCCD-SMU's Dual Admissions Program for the 2004-2005 academic year, beginning September. The deadline for fall applications is August 2, 2004. Students will be notified of acceptance into the program no later than August 23.

Applications and information sheets are available in the advising and admissions offices on all CCCCD campuses: Central Park Campus (CPC) in McKinney, 972-548-6790; Courtyard Center for Professional and Economic Development (CYC) in southwest Plano, 972-985-3790; Preston Ridge Campus (PRC) in Frisco, 972-377-1790; Spring Creek Campus (SCC) in east Plano, 972-881-5790; and CCCCD@ALLEN in Allen, 972-377-1060. Applications are also available online at Follow the link for "University Partnerships - Dual Admissions."

According to the agreement with SMU, CCCCD students are encouraged to apply as early as possible during their first two years of college, and then--provided they meet certain academic standards, follow SMU's curriculum guidelines, and comply with all SMU admission requirements--they may transfer to SMU after their first or second year of study. Each student may transfer a maximum of 62 credit-hours to Southern Methodist University.

Students who are accepted into the program enjoy an early taste of academic life at SMU. As dual enrollees, they receive tickets to SMU sporting events, special lectures and performing arts events; they receive a DART pass, an SMU e-mail address and a newsletter; they have access to SMU libraries; upon acceptance, they receive SMU videos, t-shirts, organizers and handbooks. All of this while enjoying the nearness and convenience of studying at CCCCD.

For more information, please contact Stephanie Hanson, CCCCD's coordinator of transfer programs, at 972.985.3734; or call SMU at 214.768.2058 and ask for transfer admissions.
