CCCCD Women's Alliance Provides Holiday Cheer For Clients Of Hope's Door

November 24, 2003 - The CCCCD Women's Alliance in conjunction with Counseling Services is collecting holiday decorations for Hope's Door, Collin County Women's Shelter in Plano. The group plans to provide ornaments and decorations for three trees for the agency to set up in their children's area, boardroom and resource room. Needed items include unbreakable ornaments: fruit, miniature stuffed animals, angels, child-related ornaments such as winter sports, hobby horses and Disney characters, and other assorted ornaments.

If you would like to donate decorations, please drop them off at the Admissions and Records office at one of the following CCCCD campuses by Dec. 3: Central Park, 2200 W. University in McKinney; Preston Ridge, 9700 Wade Blvd. in Frisco; Spring Creek, 2800 E. Plano Pkwy. and Courtyard Center, 4800 Preston Park Blvd. in Plano; and CCCCD@Allen, 300 Rivercrest Blvd. in Allen. For information about donation needs, please call Pam Love at 972.881.5775.

Hope's Door provides safe, confidential shelter, crisis counseling and support to victims of family violence. They also provide counseling for victims not in need of immediate shelter and counseling to perpetrators of domestic violence.

The mission of the Women's Alliance is to provide educational opportunities and resources for the empowerment of women. The objectives set forth by the group include providing scholarships for students who are seeking to attend CCCCD; sponsoring educational programs for women at CCCCD and in the community; increasing awareness of women's issues and available services; and involving faculty, staff, students and the community in the support of women.

Collin County Community College District serves close to 40,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 100 degree and certificate programs in a wide range of disciplines. In addition, CCCCD is a partner to business, government and industry, providing customized training and work force development.
