CCCCD Hosts Auteur Film Series

Oct. 28, 2004 - Collin County Community College District (CCCCD) presents its annual Auteur Film Series for 2004-2005. "Auteurs" are filmmakers whose creative visions have a distinct impact on their work.

The next film will be the coming-of-age story "Nicholas Nickelby," screened at 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 15 in room C104 on the Spring Creek Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. Following the film, there will be a brief panel discussion between faculty and members of the audience. The film is free and open to the public.

This 2002 film, directed by Douglas McGrath, retells Charles Dickens's story about a family who enjoys a comfortable life until the father dies and leaves them destitute. Nicholas must find a way to reunite his family.

McGrath also wrote and directed "Emma" in 1996 with Gwenyth Paltrow. He also co-wrote "Bullets Over Broadway" (1994), nominated for best screenplay at the Academy Awards. Before that, he was a writer for "Saturday Night Live."
