CCCCD Public Relations Nets Awards in Contests


CCCCD PUBLIC RELATIONS NETS AWARDS IN CONTESTS

November 3, 2004 -- The Collin County Community College District (CCCCD) Public Relations Department won a number of awards in two recent competitions.

At the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) Regional Conference in October, the department garnered five Medallion Awards. They include:

• Gold - Connection community newsletter

• Silver – Recognition Book, an annual publication distributed to college employees that salutes the achievements of college students, faculty, trustees, administrators and staff

• Silver – Feature story titled “It’s Not All Fun and Games …” published in Plano Profile Magazine

• Silver – Smart Move ad campaign

• Bronze – Feature story titled “Dental Hygienist Dennis Garcia Breaks the Gender Barrier” published in Plano Profile Magazine

NCMPR is the only organization that represents marketing and public relations professionals at community, junior or technical colleges and includes 1,550 members from more than 600 colleges in the United States, Canada and the Bahamas. The CCCCD Public Relations Department competed against colleges from its region including Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Colorado, New Mexico and Wyoming.

The Public Relations Department also won three MarCom Creative Awards, including:

• Platinum - Connection community newsletter

• Gold – Smart Move movie theatre ad campaign

• Honorable Mention - “Business Solutions” photography

The MarCom Creative Awards is an international competition.

Collin College serves more than 46,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 100 degree and certificate programs. The only public college in the county, Collin College is a partner to business, government and industry, providing customized training and work force development.
