CCCCD Jazz Band Concert Features Different Groups


November 19, 2004 -- The Collin County Community College District (CCCCD) jazz bands will serve up a number of musical gems during their fall concert.

The performance is slated for 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 4, at the John Anthony Theatre on the Spring Creek Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. Admission is $5.

A number of groups are scheduled to perform including the Jazz Combo PM, Jazz Combo Too, Jazztet One and the CCCC Jazz Lab Band. Music featured includes selections by Miles Davis, Thad Jones, Sammy Nestico, Diane Reeves and CCCCD Jazz Band Director Kris Berg.

Under Berg’s direction, the award-winning Jazz Lab Band has traveled around the world performing. Vocalist Susan Ayers will perform Thad Jones’ arrangement of “Bye Bye Blackbird” and “Honeysuckle Rose,” which was originally written for Ella Fitzgerald.

Saxophonist Kevin McNerney will go solo on Oliver Nelson’s “I Hope In Time A Change Will Come.”
