Collin Psychology Professor Appointed to New Post

February 16, 2005 – A Collin County Community College District (“Collin”) professor and Abilene native is taking on a new responsibility for a national honor society.

Psychology professor Jennifer O’Loughlin-Brooks has been named the first ever Psi Beta Texas liaison. Psi Beta is the national psychology honor society. The position will require Brooks to serve as a link to other Psi Beta advisors in the state to determine the concerns, needs, praises and ideas for improving service to the different chapters.

The state liaison and chapter delegates will aid the Psi Beta National Society in exploring the vision and future of the honor society.

Brooks and psychology lab assistant Aimee Johnson re-activated Psi Beta at Collin in 1997. Brooks has been a Psi Beta faculty advisor and research coordinator. For the 2004-05 year, Brooks has been co-advisor with professor Valerie Smith.

Collin College serves more than 46,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 100 degree and certificate programs.
