COLLIN OFFERS CONTINUING EDUCATION CLASSES ONLINE

February 16, 2005 - According to science fiction writers, one day we may be able to plug our brains into computers and learn anything we want without ever leaving the comfort of our homes. Until that time, Collin County Community College District (“Collin”) offers the next best thing--distance education classes via the Internet.

Continuing Education offers more than 400 sections of classes that may be taken entirely online.  These include classes in a broad range of areas: web page design, desktop publishing, computer troubleshooting and networking, computer programming and database, certification prep, grant writing and nonprofit management, business planning and entrepreneurial courses, sales and marketing, accounting, business administration and management, personal finance, healthcare, medical transcription and teaching.

Typically, these classes require 12 lessons, made available to the student via email or the web site, twice a week for six weeks, along with multiple hands-on, interactive assignments, twelve multiple-choice quizzes and a final exam.

Distance learning classes offer highly qualified instructors, supplementary links for further study, a searchable information database, student-teacher and student-student discussion areas, opportunity to ask the instructor questions for up to one month after the course and certificates of completion.

Collin’s Continuing Education division partners with Ed2go.com, which has a network of more than 1,300 partner colleges nationwide, to offer many of these distance education classes. Consistently, Collin ranks as one of the top enrollers of distance education students in the nation.

Registration is now underway.  For more information on Collin’s distance learning classes, visit http://www.ed2go.com/ccccdce.

Collin College serves more than 46,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 100 degree and certificate programs. The only public college in the county, Collin College is a partner to business, government and industry, providing customized training and work force development.
