GET ALL THE TOPPINGS ON CONVERGENCE TECHNOLOGY AT PIZZA NIGHT

April 7, 2005 -- Students can get a slice of convergence technology – and pizza – at the Collin County Community College District (Collin) Engineering and Emerging Technology Pizza Night.

The event is slated for 6:30-7:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 3, in room F148 at the Preston Ridge Campus, 9700 Wade Blvd. in Frisco.

The department will provide free pizza and show attendees the new degree programs in the field of convergence technology at Collin. Prizes also will be given out at the event.

Convergence technology refers to the integration of voice, data and video technologies, much like what is found in cell phones, which transmit voice, images and can access the Internet. The Convergence Lab, located at the Preston Ridge Campus in Frisco, includes state-of-the-art equipment and provides flexible networking environment that integrates different technologies.

The lab was funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation.
