Collin Offers Therapeutic Massage Training Program

April 7, 2005 – Collin County Community College District (Collin) is providing a means to enter into an exciting health-related field – massage therapy.

This summer Collin Continuing Education is offering a 300-hour, seven-module massage therapy program that includes 50 hours of supervised internship.  The fee for the seven modules is under $2,400.  To become a Registered Massage Therapist a one-day state exam is required at the end of the program. The exam is offered three times a year in Austin.

A free information session will be held from 9-11 a.m., Saturday, May 21, at Collin’s Courtyard Center for Professional and Economic Development, 4800 Preston Park Blvd. in Plano.

For those who are enrolled in the program, a mandatory orientation session will be from 9-11 a.m., Thursday, May 26 at the Courtyard Center.

Potential careers for massage therapists include running a private practice, working at health and fitness clubs, spas, salons and sports teams.
