Collin Students May Apply at SMU


June 10, 2005 -- Students interested in becoming dually enrolled at Collin County Community College District (Collin) and Southern Methodist University (SMU) may access pre-admission applications at . A maximum of 20 students will be accepted into Collin-SMU Dual Admissions Program for the fall 2005 semester. The deadline for all applications is Aug. 1, 2005.

Students who are accepted into the program enjoy an early taste of academic life at SMU. While enjoying the closeness and convenience of studying at Collin, dual admissions students receive tickets to SMU sporting events, lectures and plays. They also have access to SMU libraries.

According to the agreement with SMU, Collin students are encouraged to apply as early as possible during their first two years of college, and then--provided they meet certain academic standards, follow SMU's curriculum guidelines, and comply with all SMU admission requirements--they may transfer to SMU after their first or second year of study. Each student may transfer a maximum of 62 credit-hours to SMU.
